Kèr Wochi̊d (/woc/ /hi̘d/ [echo] [apparent]) is a subtropical Town located in the Nijhobbub Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Kèr Wochi̊d is derived from the Tauric language, as Kèr Wochi̊d was founded by Acipira Pugh, who was culturaly Tauric.

Climate

Kèr Wochi̊d has a yearly average temperature of 31°C (87°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 35°C (95°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 28°C (82°F). Kèr Wochi̊d receives an average of 206 cm/y (81 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Kèr Wochi̊d covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 656 m (2152 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Kèr Wochi̊d was founded durring the late 12th century in winter of the year 1064, by Acipira Pugh. The establishment of Kèr Wochi̊d was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Kèr Wochi̊d's construction back out of the project. Acipira Pugh pushed on reguardles, and Kèr Wochi̊d was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Kèr Wochi̊d was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Kèr Wochi̊d is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Kèr Wochi̊d is buildings are arranged within a network of restrictive baked earthen streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town has a fortified albit thin brick wall. The wall has most of the feeatures of a typical castle wall, just on a much smaller scale and and budget. Notably brick isn't a particuarly soild choice for resisting siege weapons. Kèr Wochi̊d's wall wouldn't hinder a proper army, but it is more than sufishent for bandits and other small marauding groups. The town's monster and outlaw focused fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A look around Kèr Wochi̊d has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scutteling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the abundance of schools, libraries, and other academic structures. Locals can be overheard having academic discussions, as well as talking about scholarly subjects in general. It’s quite clear the town places a lot of value on education and being a learned individual. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Kèr Wochi̊d long.

Civic Infrastructure

Kèr Wochi̊d possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Kèr Wochi̊d has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Kèr Wochi̊d. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Kèr Wochi̊d's parks.

Kèr Wochi̊d has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Kèr Wochi̊d.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Kèr Wochi̊d's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Kèr Wochi̊d's natural decorations nor waterways.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Kèr Wochi̊d has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Kèr Wochi̊d is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Kèr Wochi̊d's town hall was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is famous for its stately symmetry, classical elements, and grand appearance. Columns and pillars, such as Corinthian columns, are often seen supporting open structures or porticos. Symmetry is an important feature of this style, with each half of a building mirroring the other. Domed ceilings and windows grace these buildings, with everything placed in a mathematical arrangement.

Due to the actions of local Kami, summer is short in Kèr Wochi̊d.

The Mercane near Kèr Wochi̊d are known to be quite timid.

Kèr Wochi̊d's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves orgies to channel Mysticism energies of tier 2 via singing.

Economy

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami spared the town from the rampage of a legendary monster. One of Kèr Wochi̊d's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
